THE HISTORY OF NATURAL ALKALINE WATER SPRINGS

Over a hundred years ago, according to stories passed down by the elders of the time, these springs were already flowing. Nestled in the rocky foothills of a large mountain, in a remote area about 170 meters deep known as “Los Timbos,” the springs were difficult to access — there were no roads leading there, only a narrow gorge that could be followed on foot to reach them, in the parish of Solano.

Many years passed until one day, an elderly woman came to me and said, “Mr. Freire, it seems some people are trying to take the waters from those beautiful springs.” That moment gave me the courage to act. I put on proper clothes and shoes, took a container, and hiked into the gorge to collect a sample of the water. I had it analyzed at the ETAPA – UCUBAMBA – CUENCA laboratories, and the results confirmed the exceptional quality of these waters.

I proceeded to speak with Dr. Oscar Zúñiga, a legal professional who filed a formal claim on my behalf with SENAGUA. After a lengthy process, the concession for those springs was finally granted in my name, Walter L. Freire Suárez. With the necessary permits in place, I was finally able to open a road to access the site, transport materials, and build a large collection pool to capture this miraculous water.

I employed six skilled workers under the supervision of master builder Fernando Cordero Ochoa, and for nearly two months, we worked to complete this major project — a goal that was achieved thanks to the miraculous Señor de Burgos.
